The Wonder Workshop, class descriptions and schedules

Unique & creative hands-on workshops for the budding photographer, artiste, scientist and much more. We believe in educating the whole child. That is why our workshops foster your child’s intellect, creativity, social skills, and emotional growth. Our curriculum is designed to provide each child with a learning experience that is lively, engaging and thought-provoking. (Please see "note" at end).

Cost: $129 unless otherwise noted
Workshops are 1 hour, once per week for six weeks.
There is a one-time $50 registration fee

The Art of Science

This workshop explores science concepts through artwork. It is a very hands-on and creative approach to discovering concepts such as light, magnetism, and energy.
For ages 3—5

Ready for Reading

Learning to read begins with a love of books. Each week, the children will enjoy being read a delightful picture book and then we will explore the sounds, words, and concepts inside that story.

It's Easy Being Green

Through hands-on activities, crafts, and games students will learn simple things they and their families can do to be stewards of the earth.

Good Sports

This is a social skills workshop that explores sportsmanship. It is a gentle introduction to competition.  We will play lots of different types of games and practice losing and winning gracefully.

Photojournalism

What child doesn’t love taking pictures with a real camera?!! In this workshop, the children become journalists. Armed with on-loan digital cameras, they are taught how to best capture the people, places, and moments in their lives. After compiling the photographs, the children will assemble their personal photo-journal documenting what they feel is most important about themselves.
For ages 6—8

Comic Book Writing

Children will create their very own comic books. In this workshop, the children will invent characters and bring them to life through artwork and writing. This type of personal expression fosters creativity while also building the writing skills of narration, plot development, and dialogue.
For ages 6—8

Science

Using hands-on activities, we will explore a different scientific concept each week. The children will develop hypotheses, experiment, and form conclusions. The children will explore topics such as the solar system, dinosaurs, and the food chain.

Drama

In this workshop, the students will work together to bring a play to life. In a supportive environment, the children can practice speaking in front of a group and expressing themselves dramatically.   Parents, friends, and family come see the show!

Book Club

In this club we will be sharing quality books and discussing the talented individuals who write and illustrate them. Book discussions and activities such as games, crafts, and puzzles all help to instill a love of reading, as well as build comprehension, fluency and oral reading skills.

Note: All workshops are drop-off only. Parents may observe their child on our flat panel display in our comfortable Parents’ Lounge. Our lounge is a great place to relax, read a magazine, and enjoy a cup of coffee with other parents while your child engages in a world of learning and fun.
